Doctorant, is that species native to Florida only? Also, how far north could it be found? Would it be possible to find along the coast of Alabama?

My records show that Eurhopalothrix floridana is the only species in this genus that occurs in North America. And it seems to be restricted to Florida. There are plenty of Pyramica to find though....

Ok thanks, I was curious of its range. I've found a few species of Pyramica, now Strumigenys. They are cool to discover!! I was hoping to find E. floridana but I have many more other ants to find yet!!

Yes, I found P. gracilis for Alabama in Baldwin County, only one specimen though. Joe had it for Mississippi already so he figured it was in Alabama. I am collecting and helping Joe fill out his list...

Could be. A very similar (same?) one is found in Mexico, on the Yucatan Peninsula.
